| Assisted-living patient arrested in hand saw attack; 3 hurt
(01-30) 15:12 PST PETALUMA -- A resident of an assisted living facility was arrested early today after he allegedly attacked a fellow resident with a hand saw and threw a wheelchair down a flight of stairs at officers, who finally subdued him with the use of a stun gun. David J. Cooper, 53, faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon and assault on a police officer in the 1:35 a.m. incident. About that time, Petaluma police received a report of a disturbance inside the Sunrise Assisted Living Facility at 815 Wood Sorrel Drive. Responding officers found a female resident in the lobby suffering from what appeared to be serious head wounds, said Sgt. Matthew Stapleton. Employees alerted officers that the suspect, later identified as Cooper, was still armed and inside the home.

Wilharms, William L. "Bill"
William L. "Bill" Wilharms, 80, Appleton, passed away peacefully Feb. 3, 2007, at Fox River Assisted Living. He was born March 27, 1926, to the late John and Corena (Koehnke) Wilharms. Bill married Eva Mae Holtz on June 21, 1947, at Mount Olive Ev. Lutheran Church where they were members for many years. Bill worked at Noffke Lumber while owning and operating his own farm. He was an accomplished homebuilder and built many homes. After selling the farm he worked at the Jeske Company until his retirement. Bill enjoyed traveling, especially the many bus trips across the United States. He also had many good friends that he enjoyed spending time with. Bill is survived by his daughters, Susan (Dennis) Drephal, Fond du Lac, and Debbie Mai, Kaukauna; grandchildren, Daniel (Lisa) Wilharms and Rebecca Mai; great grandson, Matthew Wilharms; sister-in-law, Ada Lambie and a special friend, Shirley Frick.
